Sun and Soccer

The sun shines brightly as 17-year-old twin sisters, Kaitlin (left) and Chelsea Endeaton kick the soccer ball around on a field at Mary Baldwin College on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Having graduated Stuart Hall this past weekend, the twins took advantage of the weather to practice their skills with the ball.

Photojournalist's Note -- Sometimes, we try to over complicate things. When asked to keep my eyes open for summer type feature, I roamed around and picked streets to travel down at random until I stumbled across these twin sister's working on their soccer skills.

It spoke to me as it's a simple moment in time and from everyday life -- one often overlooked.

Of several shots captured, these two are the ones I appreciate the most.

The photo at top I like because I love the open green background with the subtle lines of the freshly mowed lawn with the young ladies literally in a field of green. I also like the action of the ball that reflects the practicing of the skills.

The photo at right I enjoy because the sisters are passing the ball between one another with the one focused intently on watching her sister and the ball. For me, it shows they are working together.

It's a quiet moment ... two sisters out in the sun after having graduated the previous Saturday.
